About Us (and our Family)
2-Watts Creative Center was established in 2002 by Steven and Corky Watt and is definitely a “family business.” Steve left his Engineering position to start the company, but returned to Engineering about three years later because operating cash ran low. Since then, our daughter, Jessica Lanning, has been the manager and we hire at least one part-time person. Steve and Corky work at the studio on Thursday nights and Saturdays, often teaching classes. We have grown every year and are currently in our third location.
2-Watts Creative Center is an ART Studio where YOU are the Artist, providing hands-on recreational opportunities in a variety of art mediums for people of all ages. We feature, Warm Glass Fusing, Potters Wheels, Paint-Your-Own Pottery, Potters Wheels, Polymer Clay, Ceramic Clay Hand-Building, Art & Craft Classes, Parties, Hand-made gifts, Custom Artwork and More. We are located in a storefront in historic downtown Monument, Colorado.
There are no appointments necessary to come in and have fun. Customers come in and choose a project and we have all the supplies, materials and equipment for the customer to finish their piece. Pricing is by the piece or by the class (as applicable). We do not charge a studio fee. There are arts and crafts available for all ages, so this is great family entertainment, with many activities in the $10-$20 range (less than the cost of a movie with snacks). |
From senior electronics engineer to store owner and artist -- what a journey! Steve Watt has a Bachelors of Science in Electronics Engineering and is a Certified Ceramics Teacher. He knows ceramics inside-out, teaches potters wheel classes, and is a resident artist. Ask him about his sand sculptures when you come in. Steve is also an award-winning glass artist.
Little Known Facts: Steve & Corky share a combined family of five daughters and three sons, as well as nine grandchildren. They have been married since April Fools Day, 2001. Soul mates, they work well together and enjoy their shared family. |

Sparky was born on Valentines Day, 2003. He is a Maine Coon cat. He has extra toes and can actually use part of his hand like we use our thumbs. Our other cat, sweet Joe, died in 2007. Sparky's new brothers names are Joe and Snowball! They are still relatively young, so they drive us all nuts! Snowball is a flamepoint and Joe is a medium hair gray. |
